Bill's Story
- A lifelong borderline alcoholic – has done some treatment
- Illiterate
- His wife died a agonizing death from cancer at a young age
- In his grief he drove his car while drunk and caused a serious accident
- Had taken alcohol treatment while in prison
- Heard about project Reintegration in prison
- Was interviewed by a community chaplain and accepted into Project Reintegration
- His Team began to meet with him weekly while he was still in prison, driving 45 minutes each way
- They helped secure housing and a job for Bill while he was still in prison
- The Team did a fair amount of networking with his landlord, aged mother and employer
- When Bill was released he went to visit his mother. A call to his Team was the first phone call he made
- Praying for Bill became a daily part of the Team's life, as did their weekly meeting
- Since released he has had a drunken binge, but the Team stayed by him and encouraged him. He is now 4 months sober
- His housing and job have stabilized
- Bill has consistently said, "To know you guys are out there is pulling for me is the greatest thing in the world."
- Bill is private about his faith and has not opened this area of his life to the Team…a decision they have respected
- Bill and his Team have met for coffee and gone to a ball game
- They plan to visit his wife's grave together on the anniversary of her death
- Bill has recently said, "This is great! You know I could do this, I could be on a Team when our year together is over."
